Seed Bank is a collection of memories which ultimately form an abstract narrative about childhood, self perception, and loss.
The memories are comprised of elements from the artist’s own history, as well as collected from beloved childhood texts i.e. “Water Babies, The Jungle Books”, and multiple folktales.
The seeds themselves are hand blown physical objects, each small enough to fit in one’s palm. Each seed contains a memory along with an augmented reality layer and visual effects that can be viewed via augmented reality. The seeds interact with each other when placed together, allowing the viewer to construct the overall narrative in the order they choose, getting different visual results. Exhibited at Spring Break 2017
About The Project:
Seed Bank is an ongoing project that has been iterated on several times, changing the form and content in response to a specific audience. However, it’s core concept is always the same; a collection of tangible, tactile objects, each containing a secret (AR) memory/symbol/message. The overall experience takes place in the physical world as well as the virtual one.
Evolving the form of the objects and the content has been both challenging and fun.
SeedBank – Each seed holds a piece of something that was “planted” in my creative mind. This set preserves my childhood points of influence. Very useful if I get a head injury I suppose… 😉 Anyway, come see it in person @springbreakartshow 23rd floor lobby #personaltesseract curated by @annespalter MARCH 1-6 don’t miss it!!!
